Systems of Care Leadership Learning Community

The Systems of Care Leadership Learning Community (SOC LC) builds adaptive leadership and change management capabilities needed to advance system-level transformation within systems of care. The SOC Leadership LC emphasizes cross-system collaboration (e.g., state agencies, Medicaid, providers, family and youth leadership) and promotes practical approaches to SOC expansion and sustainability.

We offer a series of online sessions, facilitated by peers with experience implementing Children’s Mental Health Initiative (CMHI) and Statewide Family Network (SFN)  grant programs and/or leading grantee organizations and subject matter experts related to the required deliverables for CMHI and SFN grantees. These include:

Office Hours

Practical Resources

  1. Apply adaptive leadership and change management strategies to address complex implementation challenges and activate key leadership drivers that support systems of care transformation and sustainability.
  2. Translate implementation science into practice by identifying barriers, selecting adaptive strategies, and using continuous quality improvement processes to strengthen cross-system collaboration and improve program quality.
  3. Leverage peer learning and role-based engagement to exchange lessons learned, test strategies, and strengthen role-specific approaches to meeting grant requirements and advancing systems change.

Learning Forums are structured, 90-minute monthly sessions grounded in implementation science that connect core content to real-time application, helping participants address implementation barriers, activate leadership drivers, and sustain practice change across disciplines and systems. Participants connect with peers across the country to learn from one another’s successes,  challenges, and creative solutions.

Systems of Care Learning Community breakdown, starting at the leadership community, then learning forums (webinars), and then peer practice circles (which include office hours, message board, and resources).

Peer Practice Circles are small, role-aligned 60-minute meetings designed to support shared problem-solving and continuous quality improvement through discussion of real-world scenarios, testing of approaches, and learning from one another’s experiences. Circles are facilitated for the following groups:

  • CMHI Project Directors — peer sharing of effective strategies to implement CMHI grants
  • CMHI Evaluators — discussion of data sharing agreements across sectors, participant protections, HIPAA, and more
  • CMHI Lead Family Coordinators — peer sharing of effective strategies for engaging families in systems of care efforts
  • CMHI Tribal Grantees — dedicated relational space for tribal and urban Indian project leads to engage in peer-to-peer mentorship and collective problem-solving
